The September Issue: A Takeover by Kaunas Youth!

15 September, 2023, Kaunas Full of Culture | News, Topic of the month

New season, new beginnings! The ninth year of Kaunas Full of Culture magazine starts with an exclusive issue prepared by the alumni of the youth programme ‘Kaunas Challenge’ – the Funnycoolierius team.

When was the last time you took that tired old and always overcrowded 26 bus? (Always coming home from work, always having nowhere to sit, and always performing amazing acrobatics to stay on your feet every time the driver makes a turn.)

And when was the last time, while on that bus, that you were scrolling through your friends’ Instagram pictures that smelled of tropical air, cheap party cider, or subtle museum aroma and suddenly felt that those screeching bus wheels, ice cream sticks on the floor and the deeply familiar voice of the bus stop announcer, floods you like a gray and suffocating tsunami of everyday life? Immersed in its never-ending vortex, you are doomed to constantly grieve the quality of your days, weeks, months, years, and life. It seems that only the occasional moments of laughter and play are not enough to turn existence into one that people see in movies or books. The tsunami of everyday life engulfs and extinguishes the splendor of the past and dries up the lake of future dreams.

However, you are not just evenings in Italy with aged wine, the color palette of Lake Como, and the rich smell of summer. You were, are, and will always be whole, no matter where you are on the emotional spectrum because only you determine the price of the day.

Now you have a magazine in your hands that is full of creativity. This issue was prepared by Funnycoolierius team composed of high school students. The team started looking for its common direction in the Kaunas Challenge youth program initiated by Kaunas 2022 and has now become part of the Emerging Kaunas. We created this magazine to remind you that you and your life are enough for people to read about in magazines and dream of it.

We invite you to live in the present, not to leave the past behind, and not to be afraid of the future. Just like the funicular that travels up and down every day, finding beauty in its monotonous route in both directions. Where do you look when you open your eyes in the morning? Where are you going to travel tomorrow, and what is the direction of your life? We looked for answers to these questions in the everyday lives of Kaunas residents and their inspiring activities.

The Lithuanian version of the magazine is now available everywhere in Kaunas and in some parts of Vilnius, as well as on the ISSUU platform.
